Q: Several years ago
I purchased some panties made by Playtex, called Comfort briefs.
They are all-cotton and seamless -- the most comfortable I've ever
worn. Any idea where I can find them again?
A:
I couldn't agree with you more: Seamless and stretch are
about the best things that ever happened to underwear. The bad news
from my sources at Playtex is that "Comfort By Design panties
were discontinued, and our stock is completely depleted. Unfortunately,
at this time we do not produce any panty which is comparable in
fabric or design."
The good news is that, while Playtex isn't making the underwear
you're looking for, a sister brand is. Barelythere
panties, first introduced by Bali, but now apparently being spun
off as a freestanding brand of its own (Playtex, Bali, Hanes, Barelythere
and L'Eggs all belong to Sara Lee) are seamless and include just
enough Lycra to fit perfectly and feel, honestly, as if they're
barely there.
They're available in mostly cotton, mostly microfiber, ribbed microfiber,
microfiber lace, and an iridescent nylon. Check them out at OneHanesPlace,
which discounts them.
